School Safety Self-Assessment Survey

School Safety Self Assessment Survey is a joint effort of Risk RED and IMAGINS, partnering with Save the Children, and the Global Alliance for Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilience in the Education Sector. It provides mobile applications that are part of the Comprehensive School Safety Assessment Suite. Nationally adapted surveys are developed for 1) School Safety Self-Assessment and 2) Post-Disaster Damage and Needs Assessment.

School management committees, designated focal points, and other authorized enumerators can download latest survey questions, submit responses, receive automated reports, and contribute to database systems managed by their national education authorities or partners. Current installations serve Lao PDR, Fiji, China, the Philippines, Solomon Islands and Tonga.

Frequently asked questions

What is Risk RED's approach to school safety?

As a U.S.-based NGO, we champion children's right to safer schools worldwide. Our work focuses on hazard-prone regions, ensuring that children's rights to safety, survival, and education are protected. We develop tools that help communities build their capacity to safeguard these fundamental rights.

How do education authorities benefit from these apps?

Education authorities can access a comprehensive database to review and analyze crowd-sourced results. This helps them understand community perceptions, visualize safety assessments, and plan targeted interventions. The data collected through our apps provides valuable insights for improving school safety measures.

What's the difference between the two school safety apps?

Our first app is designed for public awareness and introduces users to school safety concepts. The second app is a specialized tool for school assessors to conduct in-depth, non-technical safety evaluations and identify facilities that may need thorough assessment. Both apps are part of our Comprehensive School Safety Assessment Suite.
